Over the years Internet explorer or IE for short has faced a lot of competition from various browser manufacturers such as Opera who pioneered the concept of tabbed browsing. For some reason however no browser ever really caught on and Internet Explorer ruled 89percent of the browser market simply because it came packaged with the Windows operating system. There were various other browsers that were gunning for the top position such as Mozilla’s browser which was and still is open source and easy to use.
For the first few years nobody really knew what Mozilla’s Firefox was really capable of and many new computer users shied away from installing this browser on their systems. Over a period of time and a few updates later Firefox began to gain momentum and within a span of a few years it managed to eat out a fair chunk of the browser market. According to latest estimates over 74 percent of windows systems have Firefox installed but that is not to say that these people are not using Internet Explorer. Since internet explorer comes preinstalled on a windows system people tend to keep it that way however the number of people that use Firefox have grown almost equivalent and in some polls exceeded Internet Explorer users.
