Surfing

Have you ever decided against going surfing or water skiing because of the temperature of the water? Many of us get put off by the cold temperatures and wait until a warm summer’s day before getting wet. New heated wetsuits may be the invention that we have been waiting for which are set to be launched later this year!

Heated wetsuitA small British surf company will launch the Tiki prodigy wetsuit later on this year. The wetsuit features two gel panels which are chemically activated when the surfer is in the water. A metal disk located inside the suit reacts with the gel when flexed which results in heat being generated.

The new suits are affordable at £239 and will enable surfers to get in the water throughout the year.  Ripcurl will be launching their own version of the heated wetsuit at a price of around £500. Their suits have been tested in the Arctic and are battery powered. Either suit will encourage surfers to keep riding those waves throughout the winter!
